Recently, during a business liquidation, I came across a set of unopened vintage items that sparked something deeper than usual curiosity. All still in their original packaging and dating between 1987 and 1993, the collection included a silverplate demitasse set, crystal candlesticks, bowls, and vases—items once meant for celebration, gift-giving, or elegant entertaining.
Silver has been prized for centuries for its beauty, durability, and intrinsic value. From fine jewelry and cutlery to coins and home décor, silver is a metal that signifies both luxury and utility. However, not all silver items are created equal.
Working in the resale trade, I probably use more silver tarnish cleaner than the average household. Buying commercial silver cleaning products can get costly, so I am always interested in finding cheaper, easier ways to remove tarnish from my silver items. Sure, a lovely patina as the silver begins the early stages of tarnish can show well, but nothing pops like a brightly polished, shiny piece of silver!
